The Lija F.C. Ladies team returns to the Malta National Women's
League after an absence of nine years. Lija
Athletic had a strong female Squad in the late nineties,
that also managed to win the National League during the season
of 1996-1997 when it reached its peak success. Nevertheless, this squad had stopped competing
some years later due to financial limitations of the Club. This
year the Lija Nursery, with the help of the parent club, have re-grouped a group of some 25 girls
whose ages range from 8 to 28 years. The girls who are under 10
years of age, train with the boys' nursery categories. The other girls
who form part of the now called
Women's
Category have this year been left in the hands of Senior coach and
Technical Director, Mr. Felix Camilleri.

Mr. Felix Camilleri
is Lija's Nursery Technical director. Mr. Camilleri hails from Lija and
is a very energetic person and
a dedicated coach. The Lija girls are very happy to have him as their
coach after having a great season last year, even though the results
were not those desired. Nevertheless, the team is still in its infancy,
and our young girls have a lot of experience yet to gain and learn from
the teams they will be competing against this year!
